goodies for the holidays

with thanksgiving right at our doorstep and christmas coming right around the corner, i thought nothing is more festive for the holidays than some goodies. one of the food blogs i regular is kuidaore and her deserts and images are just beautiful. it's just something about these treats that warms my soul...i hope all of you have a wonderful thanksgiving and i will see you on monday!

gown inspiration...

there are few moments when i come across a gown that inspires me to create an entire wedding, and this is one of them. thanks to a fantastic post from bride chic, i could not stop thinking about this oscar de la renta lace, belted skirt and long sleeved blouse.

not only is this gown two separate pieces, which is a new trend for this year, but this design evokes such a sense of simplicity, warmth, and yet, all with chic style. as the bride is ever searching for something new and perhaps sensible, this would be my pick. unbelievable grace and poise, without the suffocating norms of traditions, this gown, and more than that, this style is complete picture of a modern wedding.

warm colorful j. crew

i have refrained from doing my bi-weekly gazing of jcrew.com since my pregnancy began strictly to keep me from tail spinning into depression knowing that i can no longer indulge in fashionable clothing. but i just had to do it today! it's rainy and dark and cold outside my little home and all these warm colorful gifts have just given me much envy for a normal body... i guess i'll just settle for some hot chocolate and enjoy this time while my son is napping :)

sugar cakes

i found these precious and playful cakes from sugar the other day. so cute! and they have so many other designs for any kind of occasion. it makes me want to order one for my son's next birthday!

so i don't know how you all feel about grooms cakes...i know they are definitely not a must, but it can add such a wonderful touch of your personality to your reception. plus, what groom doesn't like a little extra cake prepared just with him in mind?

my husband played college football for oregon state university and for my wedding i wanted to surprise him with a cake shaped as his jersey. simple right? so i went to a great bakery and ordered it all up. i was so excited to surprise him. so when the cake returned from the bakery the day of the wedding and i saw the finished product, i was horrified to see in front of me some thing that looked like a toddler pasted together with their hands. ehh!! i couldn't believe it. so terribly disappointed in not only the well established bakery i trusted, but also the fact i waisted money on it! needless to say, it did not make it to the ceremony...

but! when i saw these grooms cakes at sugar i was thrilled! such great ideas and just the perfect jersey cake :)
